Our analysis looked at 61 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region to see which bachelor's degree programs offered the best value experiences for compsci students with the aim of identifying those quality schools that are more affordable than some of their counterparts.

When determining this ranking, we place a high emphasis on the school's quality as well as its sticker price. Even though a college may be affordable, it may not offer value. More specifically, we discount our quality score by the published tuition and fees charged by a school. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The value is determined by how much quality your dollar buys.

Our calculations use out-of-state tuition and fees in our nationwide and regional rankings. Average in-state tuition and fees are used for our statewide rankings.

Our 2023 rankings named Wilmington University the best value school in the Middle Atlantic Region for computer science students working on their bachelor’s degree. Wilmington University is a large private not-for-profit school located in the suburb of New Castle.

Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at Wilmington University are $11,760 per year.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Delaware State University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Best Value Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. Del State is a medium-sized public school located in the small city of Dover.

The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at Del State are $18,280 a year. After completing their Bachelor's Degree, compsci graduates from Del State carry an average student debtload of $22,344.

A rank of #3 on this year’s list means University of Maryland - College Park is a great value for computer science students working on their bachelor’s degree. UMCP is a fairly large public school located in the suburb of College Park.

UMCP undergraduate students pay an average of $38,638 in tuition and fees each year. The average amount in student loans that compsci majors at UMCP take out while working on their Bachelor's Degree is $20,305. For students who choose a 10-year repayment plan, the average monthly student loan payment is $307.

On top of its placing in our value ranking, UMCP also did well on our Best Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. It’s in the top 5% of all schools reviewed in this analysis.

Out of the 61 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region that were part of this year’s ranking, York College of Pennsylvania landed the # 4 spot on the list. Located in the midsize suburb of York, YCP is a private not-for-profit college with a small student population.

Ithaca, NY

A rank of #5 on this year’s list means Cornell University is a great value for computer science students working on their bachelor’s degree. Located in the city of Ithaca, Cornell is a private not-for-profit school with a fairly large student population.

The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at Cornell are $61,015 a year. This translates to an average monthly loan payment of $524, based on a 10-year repayment plan.

Carnegie Mellon University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for computer science students to get a bachelor’s degree. It came in at #7 on the list. Carnegie Mellon is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Pittsburgh.

The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon are $58,524 a year.

Carnegie Mellon did well in our overall quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our Best Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list.

Queens College landed the #8 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value bachelor’s degree computer science programs. Located in the city of Queens, QC is a public college with a large student population.
