To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Computer Science program at each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named University of Minnesota - Twin Cities the most popular school in the Plains States Region for computer science students. UMN Twin Cities is a fairly large public school located in the large city of Minneapolis.

On average, compsci graduates from UMN Twin Cities take out $19,997 in student loans while working on their degree. Assuming that a graduate chooses a 10-year repayment plan, the average monthly loan payment is $200.

The excellent programs at University of Central Missouri helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the best computer science schools in the Plains States Region . UCM is a large public school located in the town of Warrensburg.

While working on their degree, compsci majors at UCM accumulate an average of around $24,214 in student debt.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around you if you attend Maharishi International University. The school came in at #3 on this year’s Most Popular Computer Science Schools in the Plains States Region list. MIU is a small private not-for-profit school located in the town of Fairfield.

A rank of #4 on this year’s list means Washington University in St Louis is a great place for computer science students. WUSTL is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the suburb of Saint Louis.

After completing their degree, compsci graduates from WUSTL carry an average student debt load of $16,500.

Out of the 98 schools in the Plains States Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Missouri - Kansas City landed the # 5 spot on the list. UMKC is a fairly large public school located in the large city of Kansas City.

Iowa State University ranked #6 on this year’s Most Popular Computer Science Schools in the Plains States Region list. Located in the small city of Ames, Iowa State is a public school with a fairly large student population.

While working on their degree, compsci majors at Iowa State accumulate an average of around $25,675 in student debt. The average monthly payment of a loan this size is about $236, assuming that the borrower is on a 10-year repayment plan.
