Our analysis looked at 20 schools in the Southwest Region to see which associate degree programs offered the best educational experiences for computer science students. To come up with a school's ranking, we analyzed numerous factors related to post-graduation wages, the quality of education offered by the school, average accumulated student debt, and more.

Our analysis found University of Phoenix - Arizona to be the best school for computer science students who want to pursue a associate degree in the Southwest Region .
On average, associate degree students take out $23,839 in loans while pursuing their degree.
One thing to take note of is that UOPX - Arizona does offer online classes in some areas. During the 2019-2020 year, about 100% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Out of the 20 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Austin Community College District landed the # 2 spot on the list.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Collin County Community College District. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Best Computer Science Associate Degree Schools in the Southwest Region list.
In-state students pay an average of $3,094 in tuition and fees if they attend Collin County Community College District full time. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $5,104. On average, associate degree students take out $17,379 in loans while pursuing their degree.
One thing to take note of is that Collin County Community College District does offer online classes in some areas. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 95% took at least some of their classes online.
The excellent associate degree programs at Oklahoma City Community College helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the best computer science schools in the Southwest Region .

With a ranking of #12, Lone Star College System did quite well on this year’s best schools for computer science students working on their associate degree.
Students from Texas who attend North Harris Montgomery full time pay an average of $4,848 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $6,168. South Texas College landed the #15 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best associate degree computer science programs.

Students from Texas who attend Amarillo College full time pay an average of $3,168 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $4,704. Associate Degree recipients from Amarillo College accumulate an average of $18,641 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.
Amarillo College does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. In fact, around 57% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Remington College - Fort Worth Campus did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for computer science students to get an associate degree. It came in at #18 on the list.
Associate Degree recipients from Remington College - Fort Worth Campus accumulate an average of $24,912 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.
If you are interested in distance education, Remington College - Fort Worth Campus is an excellent choice, since the school is online.
University of the Incarnate Word did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for computer science students to get an associate degree. It came in at #19 on the list.
If you want to attend UIW, expect to pay an average of $33,100 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. On average, associate degree students take out $19,041 in loans while pursuing their degree.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since UIW does offer online classes for certain majors. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 97% took at least some of their classes online.
Southwestern Oklahoma State University landed the #20 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best associate degree computer science programs.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at SWOSU is $7,913. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $15,023. Associate Degree recipients from SWOSU accumulate an average of $17,974 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.
SWOSU does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. In 2019-2020 about 85% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
