This report analyzed 19 schools in New Jersey to see which ones offered the best bachelor's degree programs for computer science students. To come up with a school's ranking, we analyzed numerous factors related to post-graduation wages, the quality of education offered by the school, average accumulated student debt, and more.

Our 2023 rankings named The College of New Jersey the best school in New Jersey for computer science students working on their bachelor’s degree.
Students from New Jersey who attend TCNJ full time pay an average of $17,287 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $29,594. On average, bachelor’s degree students take out $22,132 in loans while pursuing their degree.
One thing to take note of is that TCNJ does offer online classes in some areas. In fact, around 100% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Rutgers University - New Brunswick is a great place for computer science students working on their bachelor’s degree.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Rutgers New Brunswick is $15,804. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $33,005. On average, bachelor’s degree students take out $24,259 in loans while pursuing their degree.
Rutgers New Brunswick does offer online classes for certain degree levels. In 2019-2020 about 37% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend New Jersey Institute of Technology. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Best Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree Schools in New Jersey list.

The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Stockton State is $14,885. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $22,467. On average, bachelor’s degree students take out $24,498 in loans while pursuing their degree.

With a ranking of #9, Rowan University did quite well on this year’s best schools for computer science students working on their bachelor’s degree.
Full-time students from New Jersey pay an average of $14,376 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Rowan. Out-of-state students pay an average of $23,408. Bachelor’s Degree recipients from Rowan accumulate an average of $23,830 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.

Montclair State University landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best bachelor’s degree computer science programs.
Students from New Jersey who attend Montclair State full time pay an average of $13,298 in tuition and fees. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $21,418. Bachelor’s Degree recipients from Montclair State accumulate an average of $24,767 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.

Kean University came in at #11 in this year’s edition of the Best Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree Schools in New Jersey ranking.

Rider University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for computer science students to get a bachelor’s degree. It came in at #12 on the list.

William Paterson University of New Jersey ranked #13 on this year’s Best Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree Schools in New Jersey list.

By the time they get their bachelor’s degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $26,059 in student loans.

With a ranking of #16, Berkeley College - Woodland Park did quite well on this year’s best schools for computer science students working on their bachelor’s degree.

Fairleigh Dickinson University - Florham Campus landed the #17 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best bachelor’s degree computer science programs.
FDU does not offer a discount to in-state students, so the average tuition and fees for all undergraduates is $40,054. This amount may be reduced if you receive financial aid. Bachelor’s Degree recipients from FDU accumulate an average of $24,219 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.
FDU is one of the schools on our list that is primarily online. Each undergraduate student at the school took at least one class online.
New Jersey City University ranked #18 on this year’s Best Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree Schools in New Jersey list.
Students from New Jersey who attend NJCU full time pay an average of $15,072 in tuition and fees. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $25,364. On average, bachelor’s degree students take out $23,694 in loans while pursuing their degree.
