Our analysis found Hillsborough Community College to be the best school for computer science students who want to pursue a basic certificate in Florida.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at HCC is $2,506. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $9,111.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since HCC does offer online classes for certain majors. In fact, around 88% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Valencia College is a great place for computer science students working on their basic certificate.
In-state students pay an average of $2,474 in tuition and fees if they attend Valencia College full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $9,383.
Some students may be able to take online classes at Valencia College. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 96% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
The excellent basic certificate programs at Rasmussen University - Florida helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the best computer science schools in Florida.
The average tuition and fees at Rasmussen University - Florida is $13,635. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online classes at Rasmussen University - Florida. In fact, around 100% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend St Petersburg College. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Best Computer Science Basic Certificate Schools in Florida list.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at SPC is $2,682. Out-of-state students pay an average of $9,286.
SPC does offer online classes for certain degree levels. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 87% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Florida State College at Jacksonville. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Best Computer Science Basic Certificate Schools in Florida list.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at FSCJ is $2,657. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $9,631.
One thing to take note of is that FSCJ does offer online classes in some areas. In 2019-2020 about 89% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Seminole State College of Florida came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Best Computer Science Basic Certificate Schools in Florida ranking.

Daytona State College landed the #9 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best basic certificate computer science programs.
Full-time students from Florida pay an average of $3,106 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Daytona State College. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $11,994.
Some students may be able to take online classes at Daytona State College. During the 2019-2020 year, about 77% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Palm Beach State College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for computer science students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #10 on the list.
In-state students pay an average of $3,050 in tuition and fees if they attend Palm Beach State College full time. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $10,910.

With a ranking of #11, Santa Fe College did quite well on this year’s best schools for computer science students working on their basic certificate.
