Our analysis looked at 1,273 schools in the United States to see which associate degree programs were the most popular for computer science students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Northern Virginia Community College the most popular school in the United States for computer science students working on their associate degree. Northern Virginia Community College is a public institution located in Annandale, Virginia. The school has a large population, and it awarded 1,146 associate degrees in 2020-2021.
Full-time students from Virginia pay an average of $5,565 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Northern Virginia Community College. Out-of-state students pay an average of $11,648. On average, associate degree students take out $17,116 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 27% were women.

UOPX - Arizona is a large private for-profit school situated in Tempe, Arizona. It awarded 630 associate degrees in 2020-2021.

Ivy Tech Community College is a public institution located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The school has a large population, and it awarded 532 associate degrees in 2020-2021.

Virginia Beach, Virginia is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out associate degrees to 471 students in 2020-2021.

DeVry University - Illinois is a private for-profit institution located in Chicago, Illinois. The school has a large population, and it awarded 405 associate degrees in 2020-2021.

New York City College of Technology landed the #13 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular associate degree computer science programs. This fairly large public school is located in Brooklyn, New York, and it awarded 223 associate degrees in 2020-2021.
In-state students pay an average of $7,320 in tuition and fees if they attend City Tech full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $15,270. On average, associate degree students take out $12,093 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 15% were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at City Tech. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 100% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Wake Technical Community College ranked #14 on this year’s Most Popular Computer Science Associate Degree Schools list. Wake Technical Community College is located in Raleigh, North Carolina and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 212 associate degrees to qualified students.
