Our analysis looked at 43 schools in the Rocky Mountains Region to see which basic certificate programs were the most popular for computer science students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our analysis found Salt Lake Community College to be the most popular school for computer science students who want to pursue a basic certificate in the Rocky Mountains Region . Salt Lake Community College is a large public school located in Salt Lake City, Utah that handed out 494 basic certificates in 2020-2021.
Students from Utah who attend Salt Lake Community College full time pay an average of $4,086 in tuition and fees. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $12,734. Of those students who received their degree, 19% were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online classes at Salt Lake Community College. In 2019-2020 about 48% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
The excellent basic certificate programs at Front Range Community College helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular computer science schools in the Rocky Mountains Region . FRCC is located in Westminster, Colorado and has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 239 basic certificates to qualified students.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at FRCC is $4,032. Out-of-state students pay an average of $15,454. Of those students who received their degree, 29% were women.

A rank of #3 on this year’s list means Pueblo Community College is a great place for computer science students working on their basic certificate. Pueblo Community College is located in Pueblo, Colorado and has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 220 basic certificates to qualified students.
Full-time students from Colorado pay an average of $4,536 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Pueblo Community College. Out-of-state students pay an average of $15,958. Of those students who received their degree, 21% were women.
One thing to take note of is that Pueblo Community College does offer online classes in some areas. In 2019-2020 about 35% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Out of the 43 schools in the Rocky Mountains Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Weber State University landed the # 4 spot on the list. WSU is located in Ogden, Utah and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 150 basic certificates to qualified students.
Full-time students from Utah pay an average of $6,228 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend WSU. Out-of-state students pay an average of $16,644. Around 21% of those degree recipients were women.

Colorado State University - Global Campus is located in Greenwood Village, Colorado and has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 114 basic certificates to qualified students.
Around 29% of those degree recipients were women.
Colorado State University - Global Campus is primarily an online school, so it is a great choice for returning adults and students who work full time.

Utah Valley University came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Computer Science Basic Certificate Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region ranking. This large public school is located in Orem, Utah, and it awarded 94 basic certificates in 2020-2021.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at UVU is $6,010. Out-of-state students pay an average of $17,092. Around 17% of those degree recipients were women.
Some students may be able to take online classes at UVU. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 70% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Pikes Peak Community College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for computer science students to get a basic certificate. It came in at #7 on the list. Full-time students from Colorado pay an average of $3,981 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend PPCC. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $15,403. Of those students who received their degree, 13% were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online classes at PPCC. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 47% took at least some of their classes online.
Mountainland Technical College ranked #8 on this year’s Most Popular Computer Science Basic Certificate Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region list. Located in Lehi, Utah, the small public school handed out 60 basic certificate awards in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 57% were women.
Colorado Mountain College ranked #9 on this year’s Most Popular Computer Science Basic Certificate Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region list. Glenwood Springs, Colorado is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out basic certificates to 41 students in 2020-2021.
Students from Colorado who attend Colorado Mountain College full time pay an average of $4,860 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $11,484. Around 12% of those degree recipients were women.

Salt Lake City, Utah is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out basic certificates to 28 students in 2020-2021.
Around 11% of those degree recipients were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since LDS Business College does offer online classes for certain majors. In 2019-2020 about 29% of the undergraduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
Red Rocks Community College landed the #13 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate computer science programs. Located in Lakewood, Colorado, the medium-sized public school handed out 27 basic certificate awards in 2020-2021.
In-state students pay an average of $4,389 in tuition and fees if they attend Red Rocks Community College full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $15,811. Around 15% of those degree recipients were women.

Aims Community College came in at #16 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Computer Science Basic Certificate Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region ranking. This medium-sized public school is located in Greeley, Colorado, and it awarded 25 basic certificates in 2020-2021.
Students from Colorado who attend Aims Community College full time pay an average of $2,762 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $10,418. Around 16% of those degree recipients were women.

With a ranking of #19, College of Western Idaho did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for computer science students working on their basic certificate. Located in Nampa, Idaho, the fairly large public school handed out 19 basic certificate awards in 2020-2021.

In-state students pay an average of $7,492 in tuition and fees if they attend UM full time. Out-of-state students pay an average of $28,476. Around 20% of those degree recipients were women.
UM does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. During the 2019-2020 year, about 47% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
College of Eastern Idaho ranked #23 on this year’s Most Popular Computer Science Basic Certificate Schools in the Rocky Mountains Region list. Idaho Falls, Idaho is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out basic certificates to 9 students in 2020-2021.
In-state students pay an average of $4,126 in tuition and fees if they attend CEI full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $6,222. Of those students who received their degree, 33% were women.

Western Wyoming Community College landed the #24 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular basic certificate computer science programs. Western Wyoming Community College is a small public school located in Rock Springs, Wyoming that handed out 8 basic certificates in 2020-2021.
