Our 2023 rankings named Kirkwood Community College the most popular school in Iowa for computer science students working on their basic certificate. Located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the fairly large public school awarded 75 diplomas to qualifed basic certificate students in 2020-2021.
In-state students pay an average of $5,308 in tuition and fees if they attend Kirkwood Community College full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $7,072. Of those students who received their degree, 23% were women.

Des Moines Area Community College is a large public school located in Ankeny, Iowa that handed out 53 basic certificates in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 25% were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online classes at DMACC. During the 2019-2020 year, about 63% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
The excellent basic certificate programs at Western Iowa Tech Community College helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular computer science schools in Iowa. This medium-sized public school is located in Sioux City, Iowa, and it awarded 39 basic certificates in 2020-2021.
