To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our analysis found University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to be the most popular school for computer science students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in the Great Lakes Region . UIUC is located in Champaign, Illinois and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 67 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.
Of those students who received their degree, 36% were women.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at UIUC. In 2019-2020 about 90% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.

If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Purdue does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 60% took at least some of their classes online.
You’ll be in good company if you attend University of Chicago. The school came in at #4 on this year’s Most Popular Computer Science Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region list. University of Chicago is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in Chicago, Illinois that handed out 21 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
