Also, there are a number of trade schools and bootcamps with offerings that you might find attractive.
To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Computer Science Degree Search has created its Best Value Computer Science Master's Degree Schools in the Southeast Region ranking. This report analyzed 109 schools in the Southeast Region to see which ones offered the best value master's degree programs for computer science students. The goal was to highlight schools with more affordable prices than others offering similar quality experiences.
When determining this ranking, we place a high emphasis on the school's quality as well as its sticker price. Even though a college may be affordable, it may not offer value. Specifically, our score for quality is discounted by the published tuition and fees charged by the given college. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The more quality your dollar buys, the better the value.
Our calculations use out-of-state tuition and fees in our nationwide and regional rankings. For statewide rankings, we use average in-state tuition and fees.

Our 2023 rankings named American Public University System the best value school in the Southeast Region for computer science students working on their master’s degree. American Public University System is a large private for-profit school located in Charles Town, West Virginia that handed out 149 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
American Military University graduate students pay an average of $7,050 in tuition and fees each year.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Harding University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Best Value Computer Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region list. You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around you if you attend Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus. The school came in at #4 on this year’s Best Value Computer Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region list. This large public school is located in Atlanta, Georgia, and it awarded 2,309 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state graduate students at Georgia Tech are $31,334 a year.

University of Central Arkansas ranked #6 on this year’s Best Value Computer Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region list. Conway, Arkansas is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out master’s degrees to 15 students in 2020-2021.
UCA graduate students pay an average of $11,835 in tuition and fees each year.
One thing to take note of is that UCA does offer online graduate classes in some areas. During the 2019-2020 year, about 70% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Stratford University ranked #7 on this year’s Best Value Computer Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region list. Stratford University is located in Fairfax, Virginia and has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 42 master’s degrees to qualified students.

University of Virginia - Main Campus landed the #9 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value master’s degree computer science programs. University of Virginia is a large public school situated in Charlottesville, Virginia. It awarded 235 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state graduate students at University of Virginia are $33,520 a year.
Online graduate courses are available at University of Virginia, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 75% took at least some of their classes online.
University of Virginia also took the #3 spot in our Best Computer Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region rankings.
Louisiana Tech University landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value master’s degree computer science programs. Located in Ruston, Louisiana, the fairly large public school awarded 16 diplomas to qualifed master’s degree students in 2020-2021.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state graduate students at Louisiana Tech are $12,690 a year.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Louisiana Tech does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. In fact, around 66% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
Clemson University came in at #11 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Computer Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region ranking. Clemson is a public institution located in Clemson, South Carolina. The school has a large population, and it awarded 96 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Shepherd University landed the #14 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value master’s degree computer science programs. Shepherd University is a small public school situated in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. It awarded 3 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.

University of Southern Mississippi ranked #15 on this year’s Best Value Computer Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region list. Southern Miss is located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 14 master’s degrees to qualified students.
Southern Miss graduate students pay an average of $11,204 in tuition and fees each year.

University of South Florida - Main Campus did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value places for computer science students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #16 on the list. This large public school is located in Tampa, Florida, and it awarded 257 master’s degrees in 2020-2021.
