Providence, RI

Our 2023 rankings named Brown University the best school in the New England Region for computer science students. Brown is a large private not-for-profit school located in the medium-sized city of Providence.

The average amount in student loans that compsci majors at Brown take out is $13,000.

Out of the 41 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Massachusetts Institute of Technology landed the # 2 spot on the list. MIT is a large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Cambridge.

After completing their degree, compsci graduates from MIT carry an average student debtload of $10,538. The average monthly payment of a loan this size is about $682, assuming that the borrower is on a 10-year repayment plan.

Out of the 41 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Williams College landed the # 3 spot on the list. Williams is a small private not-for-profit school located in the town of Williamstown.

Tufts University came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Computer Science Schools in the New England Region ranking. Tufts is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the large suburb of Medford.

Boston College came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Best Computer Science Schools in the New England Region ranking. Boston College is a large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Chestnut Hill.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best schools for computer science students. It came in at #10 on the list. WPI is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school located in the midsize city of Worcester.

On average, compsci graduates from WPI take out $27,000 in student loans while working on their degree. When it comes time to repay the loan, graduates who are on a 10-year repayment plan pay an average monthly payment of $515.
